Privacy Policy

Clear information about what Nook Notes keeps on your device, and what may happen when you visit this website or contact us.

Effective: 27 October 2026·Publisher: Inspiring Ninja

1. Who we are

This policy applies to the Nook Notes iOS app and the website at https://inspiring.ninja/nooknotes/. The publisher is Inspiring Ninja. For privacy requests or questions, email [email protected].

2. Notes, photos and private files

Nook Notes is a local-first app. Ordinary notes and their photos are stored in your app's local storage. They are protected by iOS Data Protection but are not encrypted using the Private Space vault key.

Private Space stores its index, notes and imported media encrypted locally using AES-GCM. Nook Notes has no publisher-operated account system or content-sync service and is not designed to send your notes or private media to Inspiring Ninja.

3. Information we receive

Based on the app's current design, Inspiring Ninja does not receive your note content, PIN, vault keys, recovery keys or biometric templates from the app. The app does not include third-party advertising or analytics SDKs.

If you email support, we receive the email address, message contents and any attachments you choose to send. We use them to answer your enquiry, troubleshoot issues and maintain a record of the correspondence as necessary. Please avoid sharing sensitive content, PINs and keys.

Website access: our web host and infrastructure may process standard technical access logs (such as IP address, browser information, requested page and timestamp) for delivery, security and troubleshooting. Such data is handled according to the hosting setup and applicable law. We do not use third-party tracking pixels or website analytics in this site package.

4. Permissions and biometrics

When you choose photos through Apple's Photos picker, the app receives the specific files you select. Taking a new picture may request camera permission. Photo-library write access is used only when you explicitly choose to export compatible media to Photos. If you enable Face ID or Touch ID, iOS performs biometric verification; the app never receives your biometric templates.

5. Backups, exports and storage

Regular-note backups and Private Space backups are separate, manually exported encrypted files, each protected by a recovery key. Where you store or share these files is your choice. Files exported to Apple's Files app, iCloud Drive or other third-party providers are subject to those services' policies. Exporting an individual private photo or video deliberately creates an unencrypted copy in the location you choose.

Private Space's vault directory is excluded from ordinary device backups by the app. Ordinary note storage may be included in device backups according to your iOS settings. Nook Notes does not provide automatic cloud synchronization.

6. Retention and deletion

You can edit or delete notes and media in the app. Ordinary notes placed into Recently Deleted may be recoverable for up to 30 days before the app purges them when its clean-up runs; copies in your backups are unaffected. Local app data is generally removed when you uninstall the app, although copies you exported, shared or backed up may remain elsewhere.

We keep support correspondence for as long as needed to handle your request, reasonable follow-up and any applicable legal requirements, then delete it. Website access-log retention depends on our hosting configuration and security requirements; contact us if you need details or have a request concerning personal data.

7. Security and recovery limits

Private Space encrypts content at rest and can use optional biometric authentication, but no application can promise perfect protection from a compromised device or operating system. Without a working PIN/biometric path or an encrypted backup plus its correct recovery key, lost vault content may be impossible to recover. Inspiring Ninja cannot reset encryption keys or decrypt users' private vaults remotely.

8. Your choices and rights

You decide what you put into Nook Notes, what you delete and what you export. You can revoke camera or photo permissions in iOS Settings. You can request access to, correction or deletion of personal information we hold through support correspondence by emailing [email protected]. Depending on your country, you may also have the right to object to or restrict processing or lodge a complaint with your data-protection authority.

Because your notes and encrypted vault remain on your device rather than on our servers, we cannot remotely retrieve, change or erase them. Use the app itself and your device's settings to manage those files and backups.

9. Cookies, local preferences and third parties

This website does not set advertising or analytics cookies or load external scripts, fonts, or tracking services. If you change the website's appearance, your browser may save a small local-only preference named nooknotes-theme. You can clear it through browser site-data settings. Website hosting and email providers may process technical information needed to deliver their services.

10. Updates to this policy

We may update this policy when the app changes, for example if a later release adds optional synchronization or third-party services. We will publish the revised policy here with an updated effective date and reflect relevant changes in App Store privacy information.
