NinjaIRC Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how NinjaIRC handles information when you use the app.
Last updated: May 16, 2026
1. About NinjaIRC
NinjaIRC is a modern IRC client for iPhone. The app lets you connect to IRC servers, join channels, send messages, use slash commands, and manage IRC conversations.
NinjaIRC acts as a client between your device and the IRC servers you choose to connect to.
2. Information Stored on Your Device
NinjaIRC may store some information locally on your device to make the app work properly, such as:
- IRC server names and hostnames
- Ports and TLS/security settings
- Your chosen IRC nickname
- Channels you choose to join
- App preferences, such as theme, font size, layout, and notification settings
- Chat logs, if message logging is enabled in the app
This information is used to provide the app’s features and improve your experience.
3. Information Sent to IRC Servers
When you connect to an IRC server, information may be sent to that server as part of normal IRC functionality. This may include:
- Your nickname
- The server you connect to
- The channels you join
- Messages you send
- Slash commands or IRC commands you use
- Connection information required by the IRC network
4. Messages and User-Generated Content
IRC messages are user-generated content. Messages you send to an IRC channel may be visible to other users in that channel. Private messages may be visible to the recipient and may still pass through the IRC network.
Do not share passwords, private personal information, payment information, or other sensitive information in IRC chats.
5. Notifications
NinjaIRC may use notifications to alert you about IRC activity, messages, mentions, or other app events if you allow notifications on your device.
You can manage notification permissions in iOS Settings at any time.
6. Analytics, Advertising, and Tracking
NinjaIRC does not sell your personal data.
NinjaIRC does not use advertising tracking unless clearly stated in a future update.
If analytics, crash reporting, or diagnostic tools are added in the future, this Privacy Policy will be updated to explain what is collected and why.
7. Safety, Abuse, and Moderation
IRC networks and channels may contain content from other users. NinjaIRC may include tools such as ignore, block, kick, ban, mute, leave channel, or disconnect features depending on the server and your permissions.
If you want to report abuse, unsafe content, spam, harassment, or another safety issue related to NinjaIRC, contact us at:
8. Children’s Privacy
NinjaIRC is not intended for very young children. IRC networks can contain public conversations and user-generated content from people outside of NinjaIRC.
Parents or guardians should review IRC server rules, channel content, and app usage where needed.
9. Data Security
NinjaIRC supports secure IRC connections where available. When TLS is enabled and supported by the IRC server, the connection between your device and the IRC server is encrypted.
Not all IRC servers support secure connections. If you connect without TLS, your IRC traffic may not be encrypted.
10. Third-Party Services
NinjaIRC connects to IRC servers selected by the user. Those servers are third-party services and are not operated by NinjaIRC unless clearly stated.
You should review the rules and privacy information of the IRC networks you connect to.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when the app changes, when new features are added, or when privacy practices change.
The latest version will be available on this page.
